COMANCO Installs Methane Gas Management System for Florida Warehouse Facility

COMANCO installs methane gas management system solutions designed to improve environmental safety and vapor mitigation for commercial construction projects throughout Florida. This latest methane gas management system project in Medley, Florida involves the installation of a specialized vapor mitigation system beneath a large warehouse facility.

The methane gas management system is being installed to safely control subsurface vapors and create a secure environment for future warehouse tenants.

Methane Gas Management System Design and Installation

Unlike many traditional methane gas management system projects, this facility features a non-traditional design where all PVC piping is located within the building perimeter rather than around the outside structure.

The methane gas management system includes:

  • Geotextile separation layer above subgrade
  • 6-inch gravel ventilation layer
  • Embedded PVC pipe network
  • Additional geotextile protection layer
  • 60mil HDPE geomembrane liner

This layered system helps improve vapor collection efficiency while protecting the liner and piping infrastructure from damage during construction and long-term operation.

Advanced Materials for Vapor Mitigation

The warehouse facility spans approximately 175,000 square feet and utilizes high-quality geosynthetic materials specifically selected for durability and long-term performance.

Materials used in this methane gas management system include:

  • SKAPS 60mil HDPE liner
  • CETCO Geovent system
  • Schedule 40 PVC piping from Harrington

The Geovent system includes approximately 2,700 linear feet of ventilation components, while the header system extends roughly 1,150 linear feet throughout the project.

Overcoming Construction Challenges

One of the primary challenges on this methane gas management system project has been limited site access and tight working conditions.

Despite these obstacles, COMANCO crews have coordinated closely with the general contractor and onsite engineers to maintain steady progress and ensure proper system installation.

Currently, the geotextile separation layer has been deployed and more than 50% of the PVC header system installation is complete. Crews are now preparing for continued gravel placement and upcoming geomembrane liner deployment.

Long-Term Benefits of Methane Gas Management Systems

Once completed, the methane gas management system will help create a safe, methane-free environment for future warehouse operations and occupants.

These systems play a critical role in:

  • Vapor intrusion prevention
  • Environmental safety
  • Long-term building protection
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Commercial site development

COMANCO continues delivering high-quality methane gas management system installations and geosynthetic containment solutions for commercial, industrial, and environmental construction projects nationwide.
