COMANCO Completes Liner Repairs for Repeat Customer in Oklahoma

A completed installation does not have to mark the end of a customer relationship. In fact, some of the most valuable partnerships continue long after the initial work is finished.

COMANCO recently returned to an industrial facility in Oklahoma to support a repeat customer, completing geomembrane liner repairs within fuel containment areas and a lined pond. The project also included the installation of new HDPE safety ladders, helping prepare the facility for the next stage of development as it moves closer to becoming fully operational.

Having previously installed geosynthetic systems at the site, COMANCO was uniquely positioned to provide efficient, knowledgeable support when additional work was needed.

Supporting the Next Stage of the Facility

As facilities progress through construction, their needs can change. New scopes may develop, repairs may become necessary, and additional components may be added before operations begin. Having an experienced geosynthetics contractor available for this work can provide valuable continuity.

For this project, COMANCO completed the required liner repairs using 60-mil textured HDPE geomembrane supplied by Solmax. Our team’s previous experience at the site also provided familiarity with the facility and its geosynthetic applications. That knowledge helped the crew approach the new scope with an understanding of the overall project.

With the new plant anticipated to open by year-end, the timing of these repairs was critical to keeping the project moving forward.

More Than Just Liner Repairs

The team’s work extended beyond the geomembrane repairs.

COMANCO also installed HDPE safety ladders along the lined pond. These ladders provide designated exit points from the sloped geomembrane surface. It was a relatively small addition to the overall scope. However, details like these can play an important role as a facility prepares for operation.

With the repairs and safety ladder installation complete, COMANCO has finished 100% of its current scope.

Meeting the Challenges of an Oklahoma Summer

Like many field projects, success depended on more than technical expertise alone. The work itself was only one consideration for the crew. Temperatures climbed to approximately 100 degrees during the project. Occasional thunderstorms added another variable to the Oklahoma workday.

Field Manager James Kile and Foreman Martin Calderon Jr. led the crew through changing conditions, ensuring work progressed safely and efficiently.

Team members managed heat exposure by staying hydrated and taking breaks as needed. They also remained aware of approaching weather throughout the day. Their commitment exemplified the professionalism and work ethic required to succeed in demanding field environments.

A Relationship Built to Last

This latest project reflects something COMANCO values deeply: long-term customer partnerships.

COMANCO’s involvement at this facility began with previous geosynthetic installation work. When the customer needed additional liner services, our team had another opportunity to support the project. That continued relationship reflects an important part of COMANCO’s approach to geosynthetic construction. Our goal is not simply to complete an installation and move on.

We aim to remain a resource when customers need additional geosynthetic construction, maintenance, or repair services.

As this Oklahoma facility prepares to open, COMANCO is proud to have supported another stage of the project.
