Miami Methane Gas Management Project Progress
Miami Methane Gas Management System Takes Shape
Foreman Miguel Medrano and the COMANCO crew have begun work on a new Miami Methane Gas Management project. During the first phase of construction, crews are installing the underground ventilation network and vapor containment system that will safely control methane beneath a future commercial building.
This Miami Methane Gas Management project highlights COMANCO’s expertise in environmental containment and brownfield construction.
Installing the Ventilation System
The crew is currently connecting the methane collection grid to a PVC header system while installing a 60-mil smooth HDPE geomembrane liner that serves as an engineered vapor barrier beneath the structure.
Once construction is complete, methane gases generated beneath the building will be safely redirected through a network of collection strips and PVC piping before being discharged away from the structure.
This engineered system helps protect both the building and its future occupants.
Why Methane Gas Management Matters
A properly designed Miami Methane Gas Management system prevents landfill gases from migrating into occupied buildings.
These systems help:
- Safely vent methane gas
- Protect indoor air quality
- Meet environmental regulations
- Reduce long-term maintenance concerns
- Support safe redevelopment of former landfill and brownfield sites
Engineered vapor barriers and venting systems have become an essential component of many commercial development projects built on environmentally sensitive properties.
