Missouri Landfill Closure Completed Successfully

COMANCO recently completed a Missouri landfill closure project spanning 14.5 acres under the leadership of Superintendent Martin Calderon and his experienced environmental construction crew. The Missouri landfill closure was completed safely, efficiently, and with an exceptional focus on quality control throughout every phase of installation.

This landfill closure project utilized the innovative ClosureTurf® system, which included a 50 mil LLDPE Drain Liner®, engineered synthetic turf, and specified infill materials designed to provide long-term environmental protection and reduced maintenance requirements.

Advanced ClosureTurf® System Installation

The Missouri landfill closure system was designed to improve long-term containment performance while minimizing future maintenance demands commonly associated with traditional landfill cap systems.

ClosureTurf® systems provide several important advantages for landfill closure applications, including:

  • Reduced erosion concerns
  • Enhanced slope stability
  • Improved stormwater management
  • Lower long-term maintenance costs
  • Increased durability and environmental protection

During liner deployment, COMANCO crews maintained strict quality assurance standards to ensure every seam and weld met project specifications. Superintendent Martin Calderon continued his outstanding performance record by completing the project with zero destructive testing failures while collecting and testing more than 80 destructive samples during installation.

Quality Control and Real-Time Project Tracking

Maintaining high-quality workmanship remains a top priority for every COMANCO environmental containment project. Throughout the Missouri landfill closure, crews used advanced GPS tracking and measurement systems to monitor infill placement daily.

This real-time material tracking system allowed project managers to accurately monitor inventory usage, maintain scheduling efficiency, and ensure proper infill coverage across the entire closure system.

The ability to track production and material quantities daily helped keep the project on schedule while providing accurate reporting for project management and quality documentation.

Safety, Quality, and Environmental Protection

Projects like this Missouri landfill closure highlight COMANCO’s continued commitment to Safety, Quality, and Service. Landfill closure systems play an important role in environmental protection by helping control stormwater infiltration, minimizing erosion, and supporting long-term containment performance.

COMANCO continues providing geosynthetic installation and environmental containment solutions for landfill, mining, wastewater, and industrial projects throughout the United States.
