Containment Liner Install Completed for Central Florida Project

COMANCO recently completed a major Containment Liner Install inside a Central Florida processing plant, helping the customer meet strict RCRA compliance requirements while improving long-term environmental protection within the facility. Superintendent Joshua Philhower and his crew worked diligently throughout the project to keep the schedule moving forward safely and efficiently.

The Containment Liner Install involved demolition and removal of existing concrete surrounding several tank pad areas throughout the processing facility. Once demolition was completed, COMANCO crews prepared new subgrades for the installation of a 60mil geosynthetic liner system designed to serve as secondary containment protection for the plant.

Secondary Containment Improvements

The newly installed liner system was extrusion welded directly to polylock embed channels installed within the bund walls. In areas with existing concrete foundations, crews utilized batten bar attachment systems to ensure secure liner anchoring and long-term durability.

Secondary containment systems play a critical role in industrial processing facilities by helping prevent chemical spills and liquids from reaching surrounding soils or groundwater. Properly installed containment liner systems also help facilities maintain environmental compliance while reducing future maintenance risks.

Following the Containment Liner Install, new concrete foundation slabs were poured over designated sections inside the facility. The coordination between demolition, liner installation, welding, and concrete placement required careful scheduling and strong communication between all crews onsite.
