Hialeah Gardens Methane Management Project Advances
Hialeah Gardens Methane Management Installation Underway
Foreman Billy Menard and the COMANCO crew continue making excellent progress on the Hialeah Gardens Methane Management project. Crews are currently installing the underground infrastructure needed to safely collect and redirect methane gas beneath a future commercial development.
This engineered containment system is designed to provide long-term environmental protection while supporting safe redevelopment of the site.
Installing the Gas Collection System
The current phase of construction includes the installation of:
- Ventilation piping
- Outlet pipes
- PVC header pipes
- Gas collection risers
- HDPE geomembrane liner
Once the underground piping network is complete, crews will continue deploying the geomembrane liner that serves as the primary vapor barrier beneath the building.
Every component must be carefully installed to ensure the system performs as designed for many years.
How the System Works
The Hialeah Gardens Methane Management system safely captures methane gas beneath the structure and redirects it through engineered MGMS strips and PVC piping before venting it away from the building.
These systems are commonly installed on former landfill and brownfield properties where naturally occurring landfill gases could otherwise migrate into occupied structures.
Proper methane management improves safety, protects indoor air quality, and helps projects comply with environmental regulations.
