Conducting a Liner Integrity Survey on a liner that has many wrinkles has always been a challenge. It involves passing the electrode over the same area from different angles, several times, in order to get an accurate reading. This can be extremely labor-intensive for the spark test technicians, and there is always the chance that the electrode still did not make the proper contact needed. This problem was recently solved by two of COMANCO’S field technicians – Estaban Solano and Wille Gomez Hernandez. They came up with an electrode design that maximizes the surface area touching the liner. This new design flows over wrinkles, making contact with all areas of the wrinkle and eliminates the need for repeat testing. Shortly after the re-designed electrode was put into use, a hole was found!
