Over the last several months COMANCO has been hard at work on a Central Florida landfill expansion project. Superintendent Gerardo Ruiz and the liner team recently completed installation of the six-layer geosynthetic containment system, totaling over 2.5 million square feet.
Superintendent Matt Carroll and the earthwork team have been hauling and placing protective cover behind the liner team. Once it is all said and done, nearly 45,000 cubic yards of protective cover will be hauled and placed.
Over 1,600 linear feet on 8-inch HDPE leachate collection pipe has been fusion welding and wrapped in 750 tons of aggregates with 16oz geotextile. To ensure quality welds are being made, COMANCO utilizes a data logger to record each weld.
Check back in the coming weeks as COMANCO strives to complete the expansion project ahead of schedule, under budget and most importantly incident free.
