COMANCO Employees Attend Skid Steer Operator Training at Ring Power

At COMANCO, investing in our employees is one of the most important ways we build a safer, stronger workforce. Recently, six COMANCO employees, including equipment operators and laborers, attended a two-day Skid Steer Operator Training at Ring Power’s Riverview Training Center, where they strengthened their knowledge, refined their operating skills, and reinforced the importance of safety.

From the moment our employees arrived at Ring Power, one message stood out: “SAFETY ABOVE ALL.” Seeing this commitment prominently displayed reinforced what makes this partnership so valuable. At COMANCO, safety is one of our core values and the foundation of everything we do. Knowing that Ring Power shares the same safety-first mindset gives us confidence that our employees are receiving training from an organization that is equally committed to protecting people, promoting safe work practices, and ensuring everyone returns home safely at the end of the day.

The training began with a full day of classroom instruction covering skid-steer fundamentals, including pre-operation inspections, preventive maintenance, proper operating techniques, hazard awareness, and safe operating practices. The classroom instruction was led by Blake Conwell, with Jose Valdes providing Spanish translation throughout the training. Their teamwork ensured every participant remained engaged and fully understood the material. Rather than simply presenting information, they incorporated real-world examples, encouraged discussion, and challenged participants to think critically about equipment operation and jobsite safety.

Following the classroom portion, participants completed Ring Power’s skid steer simulator training. Before operating the simulator, the group worked together to perform a detailed machine inspection, discussing key components, identifying potential issues, and reviewing proper corrective actions. This exercise reinforced the importance of conducting thorough equipment inspections before every shift. Each participant then completed an individual simulator evaluation that recreated realistic operating conditions and common jobsite scenarios. The simulator generated performance scorecards that gave the instructors insight into each participant’s current skill level, helping identify who might benefit from additional coaching before the hands-on training the following day. This approach allowed participants to become familiar with machine controls and operating concepts in a controlled environment before transitioning to actual equipment.

On the second day, participants applied what they learned in the classroom and simulator portions through hands-on skid-steer operation. Working directly with the equipment under the guidance of the instructors allowed each participant to practice safe operating techniques, build confidence, and receive individualized coaching based on their performance from the previous day.

Training opportunities like these are an investment in our people and our future. Every hour spent learning translates into safer job sites, better equipment operation, increased confidence, and a stronger workforce.

COMANCO is proud to partner with Ring Power to provide our employees with high-quality training opportunities. We sincerely thank Blake Conwell and Jose Valdes for sharing their knowledge and expertise throughout the training. Congratulations to our six employees for their commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

We look forward to seeing the skills, confidence, and safety-focused mindset they gained applied on our jobsites as we continue building a culture where Safety Comes First.
