COMANCO Attends Annual FPPC Spring Conference in Boca Grande
COMANCO attends Annual FPPC Spring Conference events each year to support Florida’s phosphate industry and strengthen relationships with industry leaders, suppliers, and community partners. This year’s conference was held in beautiful Boca Grande, Florida, bringing together professionals from across the phosphate sector for several days of networking, education, and fellowship.
The conference provided attendees with valuable discussions surrounding the future of the phosphate industry, legislative updates, and the continued importance of collaboration between businesses and policymakers throughout Florida.
Industry Leaders Gather in Boca Grande
The Annual FPPC Spring Conference welcomed industry professionals and guests to the historic Gasparilla Inn & Club on Gasparilla Island. Representing COMANCO at this year’s event were Mark and Christine Topp, Dan and Brooke McRae, Thomas and Loreyn Raab, Shujwana and Terry Lamy, and Trevor Topp and Lauren Vergamini.
Gasparilla Island has long-standing ties to Florida’s phosphate industry history. The area became nationally recognized through Port Boca Grande, home to the innovative 1911 automatic phosphate transloader system that helped move phosphate materials from railcars onto ocean freighters for decades.
The conference continues serving as an important opportunity for industry professionals to exchange ideas, discuss challenges, and support the long-term future of Florida phosphate operations.
Educational Sessions and Networking Opportunities
Throughout the event, attendees participated in keynote presentations and discussions led by Florida-based industry experts and professionals. Topics focused on the current state of the phosphate industry, economic trends, operational developments, and the importance of advocacy efforts supporting the sector.
In addition to educational sessions, the conference featured several social activities that encouraged networking and relationship building among attendees. Events included a Game Night with Bingo, an Ice Cream Social, and a Casino Night that brought industry partners together in a relaxed setting.
Annual Boca Boat Tour
A highlight of the conference was COMANCO’s sponsored Boca Boat Tour alongside Hudson Pump and Ring Power. Participants enjoyed a scenic cruise through Gasparilla Sound with a stop at Cabbage Key, a historic island destination accessible only by boat.
Known for its historic inn, restaurant, and walls covered in signed dollar bills, Cabbage Key offered attendees a memorable experience while showcasing the natural beauty of Southwest Florida.
