COMANCO Progressing on Leachate Collection Infrastructure while Focusing on Environmental Protection
COMANCO is steadily progressing on a leachate collection system project in Sarasota, FL. The project is designed to protect the environment and improve operational efficiency. Supervisor Danny Romero Sr. is leading the effort on-site, ensuring each phase of work meets our high standards for safety and precision. With 30% of the project already complete, the team is successfully managing a complex scope of work that requires close coordination with multiple subcontractors in a confined work zone. Thanks to detailed planning, expert execution, and a dedicated safety culture, the project continues to move forward on schedule.
Sitework and Early Progress
This multifaceted project includes key tasks like construction surveying, clearing and grubbing, dewatering, and earthwork activities. This COMANCO crew installed a field office and completed the initial survey. In addition, they installed silt fences and erosion control measures. Excavation is complete across key areas, including the pond and concrete slab zones.
A Solid Foundation
Concrete work is well underway, with several foundational elements complete. The crew has completed several pours for wall footings and vertical sections. These include divider walls, the pump base, and slabs. All formwork has been stripped and rubbed for a clean finish. Additionally, support for electrical work is ongoing. Meanwhile, duct banks have been installed, and conduit trenching is underway.
Essential Geosynthetics
A vital element of this project is the installation of geosynthetics sourced from SOLMAX. These include 10 rolls of 60mil black textured geomembrane and 25 rolls of FabriNet TRX 300 mil double-sided geocomposite. The crew is also installing 15 rolls of Bentoliner, two rolls of 8oz textile, and two rolls of 16oz textile.
Continuing Progress
COMANCO is committed to maintaining safety, quality, and service as we continue to place imported fill and install geosynthetic layers. The following stages of the project will include pump station installation and mechanical aerators. Once complete, environmental restoration will continue, with seeding and sodding to finalize the area.
