COMANCO Recognized by Mosaic with Two Prestigious Safety Awards
On March 27, 2025, COMANCO was honored with two distinguished awards for our outstanding commitment to safety at the Mosaic Contractor Safety Recognition and Awards Luncheon for 2024. Arnulfo Martinez, General Superintendent, and Shujwana Lamy, Employee Development Coordinator, were present to accept these accolades on behalf of the entire COMANCO team.
The two awards – Safety Excellence Award and Workhorse Safety Award – underscore COMANCO’s dedication to maintaining an exceptional safety culture on all job sites.
Safety Excellence Award
The Safety Excellence Award recognizes contractors who go above and beyond to ensure a safe working environment. COMANCO proudly earned this recognition based on several key safety metrics, including:
- No Fatalities or Significant Incidents/Injuries: COMANCO’s commitment to safety is evident in our flawless record of no fatalities or significant incidents. This achievement results from our strict safety protocols and focus on employee well-being.
- Incident Rates That Meet or Exceed Mosaic Targets: COMANCO not only met but surpassed Mosaic’s 2024 target of .60 for the Recordable Incident Frequency Rate (RIFR), reinforcing our consistency in keeping incident rates low and safety practices high.
- Over 2,000 Hours Reported Yearly: The dedication of COMANCO employees to safety is shown through their commitment to logging greater than 2,000 work hours annually, equivalent to one full-time employee.
- Engagement in Safety Initiatives: In addition to outstanding safety statistics, COMANCO proudly attended every face-to-face Coalition of Contractors meeting, showcasing our active involvement in ongoing safety discussions and continuous improvement efforts.
Workhorse Safety Award
The Workhorse Safety Award acknowledges contractors demonstrating extraordinary safety records by meeting specific criteria. One of those criteria includes reporting significant work hours without incidents. COMANCO received this prestigious award for the following achievements:
- Over 100,000 Hours Reported: This achievement signifies the dedication of the entire COMANCO workforce, who consistently contribute over 100,000 reported work hours.
- Zero Recordable Injuries: The recognition also reflects COMANCO’s incredible record of zero recordable injuries, a testament to our unwavering focus on preventing accidents and prioritizing employee safety.
- Active Participation in Safety Coalitions: In alignment with COMANCO’s strong commitment to safety, we participated in each face-to-face Coalition of Contractors quarterly meeting.
Celebrating a Strong Commitment to Safety
After receiving the awards, Arnulfo and Shujwana visited each Mosaic jobsite. They celebrated with the field crews who made these achievements possible. They brought lunch for the crews as a thank-you for their dedication and commitment to safety. Each site appreciated the gesture, and the teams expressed their gratitude many times with a heartfelt “thank you.”
