Last week, COMANCO employees attended a virtual leadership seminar, “Building a Growth Mindset and a Professional Identity,” with public speaker Mark Breslin. The seminar we attended, designed explicitly for field leaders in the construction industry, discussed how to enhance leadership skills by developing a “growth mindset.” Breslin inspired the audience by discussing real-life scenarios while teaching attendees how to make better decisions, inspire others to learn, and excel in their potential.
Following the seminar, our frontline leaders participated in a lengthy discussion. While learning is one thing, having a game plan for applying what you learned is equally important. So how were our leaders planning on demonstrating what they had learned to their crew? Ultimately, our team had a few key takeaways. For example:
- Embracing challenges: A growth mindset enables individuals to approach challenges and see setbacks as opportunities for growth. Overall, this improves decision-making, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Continuous learning and innovation: With a growth mindset, individuals are more likely to learn and innovate. As a result, this persistence sets us up for professional and personal success.
- Embracing change: A growth mindset supports embracing change. In other words, we must learn to take calculated risks. Only then can you experience growth and success, both personally and professionally.
