Superintendent Martin Calderon and his COMANCO crew are in the works of completing a Rain Tarp installation project for a landfill in Aucilla, Florida.
About the Project:
The original scope of work for the Aucilla Landfill Cell 4 Expansion did not include installing a rain tarp. As the main cell construction was being completed, COMANCO noticed the client would need assistance to enable them to put the cell to use quickly and efficiently.
COMANCO has installed rain tarps for a number of clients so using our expertise and techniques; we could rapidly deploy this solution to our customer’s satisfaction. We offered to work with the client, and the result is shown in the attached photos.
This work is being carried out by COMANCO Superintendent Martin Calderon. This is the team’s first time installing a rain tarp. Although similar to the heavy-duty geosynthetic lining work the crew has worked on across the USA, and throughout the subregion, this thin liner installation was a new experience for the Crew. The team took up the challenge is working diligently to complete it. COMANCO looks to complete this project and ensure work is done properly, safely, and on time. Keep up the excellent work!
About Rain Tarps:
A rain tarp is a cover that is used to protect the new disposal cell or part of it not in use. The tarp prevents rainwater that would have come into contact with contaminants from being deemed as leachate, requiring additional expense for disposal and treatment. On the contrary, water collected on the top of the protective liner is considered stormwater that can be channeled into nearby open water sources, saving the environment and taxpayers.
