COMANCO Advances Construction on Punta Gorda Landfill Cell
Superintendent Jorge Gomez and his COMANCO team are nearing completion of a 13.7-acre Punta Gorda landfill cell in Southwest Florida. Despite challenging weather conditions, the crew continues making steady progress while maintaining COMANCO’s commitment to Safety, Quality, and Service.
The Punta Gorda landfill cell is being constructed using multiple geosynthetic components designed to provide long-term environmental protection and effective waste containment.
Geosynthetic Installation Progress
As construction progresses, the crew is completing the final phases of liner system installation across the landfill cell subgrade. To date, the team has installed:
- 39,870 square feet of Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL)
- 635,220 square feet of textured geomembrane liner
- 595,350 square feet of geocomposite drainage material
- 32,760 square feet of geocomposite odor control material
- 261,360 square feet of textured rain flap material
These materials work together to create a comprehensive containment system that helps protect surrounding soil and groundwater while supporting efficient landfill operations.
