Florida Chemical Plant Liner Installation Nears Completion

The Florida Chemical Plant Liner Installation project continues making strong progress as COMANCO crews approach the final phases of work at a Central Florida reactivation facility. Despite challenging weather conditions, the team has remained focused on maintaining quality workmanship, environmental protection, and safe job site operations throughout the project.

The Florida Chemical Plant Liner Installation includes the completion of approximately three remaining acres of subgrade preparation needed to finalize the 60mil geosynthetic liner system. This liner system plays a critical role in protecting the facility by providing long-term containment and environmental security within the plant’s operational areas.

Subgrade Preparation and Dewatering Operations

One of the most important aspects of the Florida Chemical Plant Liner Installation has been maintaining proper subgrade conditions during periods of wet weather. Heavy rain and difficult site conditions required crews to continuously dewater and clean the existing installed liner to maintain production and prepare the site for upcoming construction phases.

Proper subgrade preparation is essential for successful geomembrane liner installation. Stable, clean subgrades help prevent punctures, settlement issues, and long-term performance problems within containment systems.

COMANCO frontline crews worked diligently throughout the project to maintain production schedules while adapting to changing weather conditions common throughout Central Florida.

Upcoming Construction Phases

As the liner installation phase nears completion, the project will transition into several additional stages designed to protect and stabilize the containment system. Upcoming work includes:

  • Hauling and placement of protective liner cover materials
  • Installation of stabilization drains
  • Seep shield installation
  • Fabriform installation for erosion protection and stabilization

These systems work together to improve drainage, strengthen slope stability, and help protect the liner system from environmental exposure and erosion.
