COMANCO Environmental recently completed a liner inspection and repair project at a landfill near Petaluma, California. The client had COMANCO come to the site to inspect two separate leachate ponds for any damages to their liner system. One leachate pond was roughly 40,000 SF and the other pond was roughly 120,000 SF. Superintendent Carlos Garcia and a two man crew walked the entirety of both ponds marking any damages to the existing 60mil HDPE primary liner. The crew then went back and patched all damaged areas. While on site, the crew also repaired a large tear in the sump of a separate pond located at the top of the landfill.
Carlos and the crew did a great job of finding damages ranging from small abrasions to large tears in the liner system. Liner system maintenance inspections are a proactive way to maintain a high quality containment system that ensures all parties are doing their part to protect the environment.
