Central California Landfill Deployment Progress
COMANCO Environmental continues making strong progress on a Central California landfill deployment project located in Livermore, California. The landfill deployment project involves the installation of multiple geosynthetic components designed to strengthen environmental containment and support the long-term performance of the landfill cell.
The COMANCO crew has already installed:
- Over 630,000 SF of 270-mil double-sided geocomposite
- More than 470,000 SF of 40-mil textured HDPE geomembrane
- Approximately 225,000 SF of GCL material
- Around 225,000 SF of 80-mil textured HDPE geomembrane
In addition to the large-scale deployment work, the team has successfully welded more than 1,900 linear feet to tie the new landfill cell into the existing containment system. Proper tie-ins are essential to maintaining the integrity of landfill liner systems and preventing environmental contamination.
This Central California landfill deployment project is being completed by a 14-man crew led by Superintendent Tony Sanchez. The team continues working safely while staying ahead of schedule despite challenging site conditions. Strong winds and steep slopes have created additional obstacles throughout deployment, requiring the crew to implement careful ballast procedures to secure installed materials and protect the geomembrane system during installation.
Geosynthetic systems like the ones used on this landfill project are critical components of modern environmental containment infrastructure. Materials such as HDPE geomembranes, geocomposites, and geosynthetic clay liners help prevent leachate migration, improve drainage performance, and protect surrounding groundwater and soil conditions.
