COMANCO Superintendent Martin Calderon and his COMANCO crew have completed their Rain Tarp Installation Project for a landfill in Aucilla, Florida.
With a fixture of approximately 10 acres, the our crew has installed a total of 395,335 SF of 20mil HDPE Rain Tarp. The COMANCO crew worked diligently to complete the rain tarp installation part of this project while ensuring it was done properly, safely, and on time.
The rain tarp installation serves a valuable role in the landfill. Primarily, it will protect the new disposal cell and stop rainwater that would have come into contact with contaminants from being deemed as leachate, requiring additional expense for disposal and treatment. On the contrary, water collected on the top of the protective liner is considered stormwater that can be channeled into nearby open water sources, saving the environment and taxpayers.
The rain tarp system will allow rainwater to be discharged as normal stormwater, as it will prevent contact with any potential contaminants in the landfill.
