COMANCO has just wrapped up its fourth summer at the Fort Knox Heap Leach Facility in Fairbanks, Alaska installing approximately 1.9 million square feet of 80 mil double-sided textured LLDPE Geomembrane for Stage 3 of this ongoing project.
COMANCO began the project at the end of May of this year offloading materials for one week. The main crew, consisting of 15 men and a superintendent, began deploying geomembrane in June after working with the company Safety Department to receive on-site Safety and CPR Training.
One of the big challenges faced during this project was the weather (particularly rain) as it decreased production greatly at times. However, the crew still managed to get the job done with 0 lost-time incidents despite this and other obstacles!
The crew demobilized on September 28th and will return next Spring to the jobsite to finish Stage 3.
