COMANCO Ready to Break Ground at Miami-Dade Landfill

COMANCO is set to start a new project in Miami, FL.  The work includes the construction of a Class I Ash Monofill Cell (Cell 20) for ash from the Resources Recovery Facility located on-site.  The property is owned by Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management with COVANTA Energy running the Resource Recovery Facility.   CDM Smith is the Engineer for the project.  The new cell will be positioned between closed Cells 1 -16 to the North and active Cell 19 to the South.  The general components of work include sub-grade preparation, GCL , 60-mil primary and secondary white HDPE geomembrane, geonet, geocomposite and geotextile deployment with a new  leachate collection piping system.  The new cell is approximately 10 acres with a 7 month projected schedule to complete.  Below are a few photos showing the site prior to construction.  Stay tuned for progress updates.
