COMANCO Nears Completion at a Southern California Borax Mine

by

In the next few days Superintendent Martin Calderon, Project Engineer Kip Thompson, and a ten-man COMANCO crew will reach the completion of deployment and installation of five separate vertical expansion ponds at a borax mine in Southern California. The crew will complete the expansions ahead of schedule. The crew has produced impressive results, installing over 1,857,200 SF of 60-mil Smooth White Conductive HDPE Liner; 1,831,500 SF of 200-mil Geonet; and 925,900 SF of GCL for this project. Over 30,700 SF of 60-mil Textured HDPE Liner and 166 HDPE pipe boots have also been installed. Spark testing, which was utilized for leak detection, has been performed on all the secondary and primary layers of conductive white liner installed in each pond.

The crew has done an outstanding job staying ahead of schedule, in spite of the constant high winds and high temperatures they faced on a day-to-day basis. The crew has also faced multiple rain storms in the past couple weeks but will still finish up in a timely manner. Great work team!
