COMANCO Goes Back to New River Regional Landfill

by

The COMANCO Team has arrived once again at the New River Regional Landfill in Raiford, Florida, this time to install Geosynthetics and Protective Cover in the new Cell 6 Expansion. The New Cell Area is approximately 20 acres, and the Environmental Construction Services (ECS) Division will be deploying Geocomposite and Geomembrane for the Leachate Detection System Layer and another layer of Geocomposite and Geomembrane for the Leachate Collection System. The crew will then lay a 2 foot layer of Protective Cover over both layers of Geosynthetics.

The crew arrived onsite Monday, July 11th to look at the site and mobilize equipment, and on Tuesday, July 12th, the crew deployed its first panel of Geomembrane to begin work.

Previously, COMANCO had performed a similar scope of work for the Construction of Cell 5 for the New River Regional Landfill back in late 2006. Luis Espinal, the COMANCO Field Superintendent for the Cell 5 Construction Project, will also oversee the Cell 6 Project as the Superintendent.

Troy Watral will be the Project Manager from the ECS Division leading the charge on the project, and he will be assisted by Project Engineers Thomas Raab and Nick Bridges. Jim Kicsak, Superintendent, will also be supporting the project on the Protective Cover work efforts.

The Project Owner is the New River Solid Waste Association, and the Engineer of Record is Jones Edmunds.

We look forward to another safe and successful project at the New River Regional Landfill!
